ANIMA! MOVING MOUTAINS

While most of us are looking down the barrel at a week’s worth of work this Monday, the bi-continental project ANIMA! bring up a more than applicable talking point in their latest single ‘Moving Mountains’. Through a song which sounds like a perfect mix between Sylvan Esso and Feist, one lyric is designed to stop you in your tracks - “Everyday a mountain we will move, and tell me, what is it for?” This question comes from the collective minds of Cape Townian producer Vicente Espi and California singer-songwriter Arielle Vakni, who share a love for exotic production and intuitive songwriting, which we can hear in the unique, quirky vocals, bass-driven electronics and possibly South African-inspired percussion. ANIMA! explain that although ‘Moving Mountains’ is a relatively simple song, it’s intention is to "give us a break from running on our treadmill and time to look up at where we are running to, or even if we are moving at all!" So, take a break from your day and soak up this colourful message. We reckon that ‘Moving Mountains’ has all the potential of becoming an alternative indie favourite. - HT
